Klein Curacao is a flat, uninhabited island about 15 miles southeast of the Curacao mainland, with a historic 19th-century lighthouse, a visible shipwreck offshore, and a stretch of white sand longer than any beach on the mainland itself. There is no entrance fee to the island, but there is also no independent way to reach it: every visit is a full-day boat trip, typically nine hours or more including a two-to-three-hour crossing each way, run by operators like BlueFinn Charters, Mermaid Boat Trips, and others. The island itself has essentially no natural shade or facilities of its own; whatever shade, food and drink you get comes from your chosen boat operator's setup for the day.
Best time
Full-day only, there is no half-day or self-drive option. Book the morning departure most operators run.
Swim safety
Generally calm around the anchor points, but this is open ocean with a genuine multi-hour crossing each way, worth knowing if you're prone to motion sickness.
Parking
Not applicable, this is a boat-only destination.
Shade
No real shade, bring an umbrella or rashguard.
